President Obama Re-Elected for Second Term – America’s Decision Leaves Both Candidates Expressing the Role of Faith in the Coming Months

ObamaPresident Obama was re-elected for a second term last night, and an exuberant base of supporters dreamed of progress in the coming four years.

Obama’s acceptance speech, and Romney’s concession speech had under-tones of faith and hope as they expressed a willingness to work with each other in Obama’s second term.

Rapper THE GAME Portrays JESUS as Gang Member on Album Cover

The cover art for rap artist Jayceon “Game” Taylor’s upcoming album is stirring up controversy because it portrays Jesus Christ as a gang member.

The artwork for the upcoming “Jesus Piece” album shows a stained-glass image of Jesus Christ, who is wearing a gaudy gold chain and a red bandana – often associated with the Bloods street gang.  The depicted Jesus has a teardrop tattoo on his face – often a sign that the person wearing this tear drop has committed a murder.  The album’s title is written as “Je5us Piece,” with the number five also being a symbol of the Bloods, and there are marijuana leaves on both sides of Jesus’s likeness.  Dear Fear,Just thought I would write you this letter to let you know exactly how I feel about our former relationship.

First, let me start off by thanking you for always popping up during the times in my life when I was standing within the threshold of greatness. Your presence served as confirmation that I needed to keep moving forward. Also, thank you for all the negative comments you whispered into my mind, if it weren’t for them, I would not have realized how mentally strong and resilient I am. You are such a liar – you told me I couldn’t when I really could. You told me I wasn’t good enough when I was just right, and you even told me that it wouldn’t work when all I had to do was put forth the effort to work it! Yes, some of your words may literally have caused me physical pain in the depths of my abdomen, and even caused me to cry at times, but thank God that even though you gave me pause, you could never completely stop me.  Continue reading →

Today, I asked a 4 year old if she had a good day at school.  She paused, looked up at me and said, “No I didn’t.”  Before I could ask her to share with me what happened, she paused again, and said, “I don’t want to tell you about it, because it’s really bad.”  Then she turned and ran away.  I, of course, paused, laughed and walked away.  As I got into my vehicle, I began to ponder over what this little child had just told me.  Even at such a young age she has already conditioned herself to avoid ‘difficult conversations’ that would make her feel uncomfortable.  I often premise before sharing certain feelings and information with others that, “I need to have an uncomfortable conversation with you.” Then I began my rant of information, feelings, frustrations or data that may not be considered ideal for him or her to hear. “Take a taste of this, bae.” I gently said as I held a spoon of food up to my boyfriend’s mouth. He is a very particular eater, and being a southern woman, my mind still has a hard time comprehending that everyone is not as open to different types of southern cuisine as I am. Needless to say, he took a bite of the mustard greens cooked from scratch, with deer sausage and taso. I watched as his eyes gazed upward while he savored the taste. I held my breath in anticipation of his response. He said, “It’s okay” in a calm, still unsure type voice. With a sigh of relief on my part, I felt a small victory towards cooking food that he would even try, eat and eventually like. A few weeks later, we began a conversation about Adam and Eve and I brought up the point of Adam being given dominion and Eve being given the power of influence.
