Billboard Top 5 Single “Christ Is Risen” and International Television Audience Mark Growing Impact of Getty Music Modern Hymns

Billboard Top 5 Single “Christ Is Risen” and International Television Audience Mark Growing Impact of Getty Music Modern HymnsRounding out an Easter season that has seen the continued world-wide embrace of modern hymns from Keith & Kristyn Getty, the couple’s latest single, Christ Is Risen, He Is Risen Indeed, has reached into the top five of Billboard’s Soft AC chart reaching #4 this week.
Performed by the duo who co-wrote the song with noted producer and songwriter, Ed Cash, the song debuted on the chart in early January at #19 and has continued to garner impressive radio adds.  The single is the first release from the couple’s current album, Hymns for the Christian Life.
“This was a great song for our station as we made our way through the recent Easter season, says DC Cavendar, Music Director/Assistant Manager, WLJN/Traverse City, MI. “I’m also excited because this is a song that we will continue to play throughout the year as it helps our listeners celebrate our risen Savior each day.  We’ve watched this song steadily gain momentum with our listening audience and believe it compliments everything we play!”
At the same time, the Getty’s modern hymns continue to receive international attention as See What a Morning was sung by thousands at the annual “SonRise Service” at the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem on Easter morning.  The service was seen worldwide by millions as it was aired live by The Christian Broadcasting Network, CBN.  The song was co-written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, who also co-wrote one of the most popular modern hymns of the decade, In Christ Alone.
Contrasting the wide reach of In Christ Alone across cultures and denominations, the composition was recently featured at the enthronement ceremony for the Archbishop of Canterbury in England that was attended by British royalty and VIPs from around the world. During the same week, the song was sung by the Gettys with Ricky Skaggs on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry at the historic Ryman Auditorium.  It is the closing hymn of the latest Passion album, and also appears as a duet by Kristyn Getty and Alison Krauss on the Getty’s Hymns for the Christian Life produced by Charlie Peacock.

Getty Music is quickly becoming one of the most respected and successful publishing companies in the world for modern hymns.  As composers and publishers, Keith & Kristyn Getty have 7 songs in the CCLI’s (Christian Copyright Licensing International) top 500 US rankings, and 21 in the top 500 UK rankings with In Christ Alone retaining the #1 position on the UK chart for 7 years.  Other songs filling those top positions include; The Power of the CrossSpeak, O Lord, and Come People of the Risen King.
About Keith & Kristyn Getty
The Gettys met in Belfast, Ireland when they began songwriting together.  They were married in 2004, and two years later they recorded their first project as a couple in the United Kingdom and Nashville, TN.  In 2007, they made the journey overseas to America and lived in Ohio for three years as they began their professional career, but found their permanent home in Nashville, July 2010.   In 2011, the Gettys welcomed a new addition to their family when their daughter, Eliza Joy, was born.  The Gettys have released 4 albums and have garnered incredible success in 6 short years that include an acclaimed repertoire of 21st century hymns and one of the most impactful live performances.  The couple has appeared at Franklin Graham crusades, the GMA Dove Awards, The Third Lausanne Conference on World Evangelization, as well as feature performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall, the legendary Grand Ole Opry, along with many other noted platforms.   One of Keith Getty’s most popular compositions is In Christ Alone, co-written with Stuart Townend and released in 2001.  The song was well-received that year but continues to grow in popularity, remaining the #1 most-sung-hymn in the UK since 2006 (CCLI) and finding position among the top 20 such songs in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
