Think about when you are trying to hug, to embrace someone. If you have something in your hand, you must either release it or you have to give a “half hug”. That’s how it is with life. If you continue to hold on to the things of your past, you won’t fully enjoy the joys and promises that await you in your future.
God has promised that He has forgiven us. God has promised that He will supply our every need. He has promised provision, love, peace, and the like. But because we are so hell bent on holding on to our past. We can’t embrace the promises of our future. Because we constantly berate ourselves for our bad decisions, we don’t feel worthy of the promises that God has assured us. Because we can’t forget that we weren’t always the best person, we feel cheated from accepting the goodness God promises. Because we have sinned, we have messed up, and we have done wrong, we feel this disqualifies us from our God-given, Christ-sacrificed inheritance. It has not! God knew that you would be you. He knew that I would be me. He knew we would make mistakes. That’s why He made provisions for His forgiveness through His son.
Don’t let the sacrifice of our savior be null and void in your life. If you have asked Him for forgiveness, God has forgiven you. Now, you must let go of your past completely to embrace your future wholly. Look at your past and simply release your grip on it. Open your arms wide to accept and embrace all that God has for you, your future. There are great things in store!
