Houston Mayor to Honor Earnest Pugh During Celebration

Houston Mayor to Honor Earnest Pugh During Celebration

[Earnest Pugh]

In recognition of Dr. Earnest Pugh’s notable successes and inspiring career in gospel music, the city of Houston and the Honorable Mayor Sylvester Turner will commemorate Dr. Pugh’s 11th Top 20 Billboard Single, “I Need You to Breathe,” with an exclusive music video preview and celebration.

“I Need You to Breathe” hails as a chart-topping single from Pugh’s highly anticipated forthcoming release entitled “Fully Persuaded,” due in stores June 2nd. Producers of “Fully Persuaded” include Michael Bereal, Keith Williams, Lucious Hoskins and DeVon Goodwin.

Pugh has experienced incredible success in Gospel music as an award-winning artist, producer and label owner of P-Man Music, but this recognition takes special meaning with Pugh.

“I am so humbled by this gesture from Mayor Turner. He has been a consistent supporter since I first relocated to Houston. While always knew that he believed in my gift and ministry, this gesture and recognition truly blew me away!  It’s an honor to live in a city with a mayor who has such a clear love and passion for inspirational and spiritual matters, and despite his many priorities, would take time to recognize and encourage my achievements in the music industry,” says Pugh.

The emcees for the star-studded event will be Houston resident and NAACP Award-winning vocalist Kim Burrell, along with Fox 26 News anchor Jonathan Martin. Musical guests will feature some of Houston’s brightest and most renowned gospel artists, including Kathy Taylor, Terrence Hartford, Nikki Ross and David Michael Wyatt. R&B sensation Carl Thomas will also give remarks.

During the event, Pugh will highlight his incomparable and talented team of producers and writers: Lucius Hoskins (Producer/Writer), Keith Williams (Creative Director/Producer) and Ken Hoskins (Writer).

Pugh also plans to bring necessary and vital attention to another of his passions and life’s callings, his recently founded and already successful nonprofit organization, Veterans Emergency Relief (VER), which addresses the privation issues that female combat veterans face. For Pugh, a veteran himself, the cause is close to his heart and purpose.

“I moved to Houston nearly four years ago to serve as an Artist In Residence & Worship Pastor for two growing churches. When I completed those assignments, I felt God revealed his true purpose for me in Houston by encouraging me to launch VER in 2016. I know the importance of sharing love, bringing encouragement, and contributing vital resources to impact communities while offstage.”

The event, hosted by Mayor Turner, will take place on Monday, May 15th at 6 p.m. at Houston’s City Hall (Legacy Room) with a red carpet reception followed by the Celebration and Video Preview.  The event is free to the public and the attire is business casual.
