Carnival-tiumphThe Carnival cruise ship Triumph made national headlines last week after it was stranded in the Gulf of Mexico without power.  One by one CNN and other news outlets captured the testimonies of passengers on the cruise, and many of them said they turned to prayer in their time of stress and concern. Tyler Perry Reflects on Whitney Houston, One Year After Death

Tyler PerryWritten By: Tyler Perry –

For many years, I couldn’t turn my ringer off on my phones because my mother was very ill. My phone would be on all night. This is tough for me because I’m the type of man who loves to be in pure quiet when I’m home. No TV, no radio, no nothing. Just quiet. Mainly because there is so much noise in my life. Continue reading

From Prodigal to Promise By: Paula Bibbs

Paula-BibbsAs I listened to the song “Now Behold the Lamb” I was reminded of the continued love and grace of our Father, God.

Many know of the biblical account of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. Here, the youngest son asked the father to divide the inheritance early. This son wanted what he considered his due before the father passed away. Normally, an inheritance is not divvied out until after the owner of the estate is deceased. However, this son desired his share while the father was still alive. I can’t imagine what the father thought of this son asking for something he had not worked for, had not saved for, and had not contributed to, but I can assure you that the custom was not to “pay out” early. The father divided the estate between the two sons. Continue reading

President Obama Re-Elected for Second Term – America’s Decision Leaves Both Candidates Expressing the Role of Faith in the Coming Months

ObamaPresident Obama was re-elected for a second term last night, and an exuberant base of supporters dreamed of progress in the coming four years.

Obama’s acceptance speech, and Romney’s concession speech had under-tones of faith and hope as they expressed a willingness to work with each other in Obama’s second term.

As Mitt Romney delayed conceding the victory too long for some, he took the stage in defeat graciously.  “This is a time of great challenges for America, and I pray that the president will be successful in guiding our nation.” Continue reading

IRS Gives Pass to Churches, Says it desn’t have power to take a Churches Tax-Exempt Status Away for Endorsing Candidates

uncle-samThe Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has officially reported what Liberty Counsel has been saying all along: The IRS is not auditing churches because it does not have the authority to take away churches’ tax-free status.

For years, leftist groups, such as Americans United for the Separation of Church and State (AU), have used deception and fear tactics to censor the church and muzzle pastors. A recent letter to religious leaders by Executive Director Barry Lynn inaccurately said, “If the IRS determines that your house of worship has engaged in unlawful intervention, it can revoke the institution’s tax-exempt status.” Continue reading

Lest We Forget By: Paula Bibbs

Paula-BibbsThough I was not in New York, Washington, or anywhere near the places attacked on September 11, I felt the pain of the impact on America.

Disaster was recorded on news channels and radio stations around the world, and on the internet. Fear pierced the hearts of many and concern over the lack of protection grew to paramount proportions.

The United States was forced to call upon God, whom they had left for knowledge, technology, wealth, fame, and notoriety. In this time of utter disaster, the people turned to the only refuge they knew could withstand war, death, disaster, and calamity. America turned to the only One who could deliver them from the hands of their enemy, God. Prayers went up around the world. At this time, school officials initiated prayer. It didn’t matter who started it, America was in crisis. Let everybody pray.  Continue reading

Destroy the Structure By: Calvin Walker

Calvin WalkerThere’s a very popular game by the name of “Angry Birds.” I must confess that I am addicted. At first glance, it is mindless fun. However, when you begin getting into the deeper levels you see that this is a game of strategy. I will do my best to describe the game to those of you who are not familiar with it. Basically, you have a structure with little green figures sitting on top of it. The object of the game is to make sure that you destroy all of the little green figures. The ammunition that you have at your disposal is a sling shot and various types of birds. You must sling the birds into the structure in order to destroy the little figures. The only way to progress to the next level is to kill all the little figures.

Now, that you kind of have the gist of the game, let me explain to you its relevance in our spiritual walk. When I started the game, it was relatively easy to move through the levels. As I started to get to the higher levels, I found it was becoming more complicated. The main reasons for the complication were the structures. In the earlier levels, the structures had been pretty open and gave a straight shot to your opponent. However, the higher levels came with structures that made it difficult for you to get to your opponent. On top of all that, they seemed to be adding more opponents. The little green foes started to outnumber the number of birds that I had. And, I began to get extremely frustrated because I couldn’t seem to figure out how in the world to get to my foe.  Continue reading

He Expects a Profit By: Calvin Walker

Calvin WalkerI think it is imperative that we understand that God expects us to do something with what He has given us. There are things that the Lord had entrusted us with and he desires a return on His investment. The word over your life is not something that will simply fulfill itself but something that you must work towards. I am not saying that the prophecy needs you to help it along. However, I am stating that the prophecy, the assignment, the word that God has entrusted you with does come with actions on your behalf. So, what are you doing with what God has given you?  Continue reading
